Hi everyone! Welcome to the Waffle Flower June release blog hop!
This first card uses the new Intertwined Bear Dies to create a fun interactive card. This die set cuts two bears that hug when folded together. In my card, I used them on the front of the card, but you could use the bears to create the card front on their own. To put this card together, I started with creating the background “honey” panel that is slightly smaller than an A2 size. I added a bit of texture to the panel with the Hexagon Texture Die (released last month) and lots of blended and misted ink.
Then I die cut my bears and add ink blending, layering (the ears and nose pieces are die cut), and a little white ink pen detail. Each bear die cuts has an attached tab that I folded behind the “honey” panel. When the two bears fold together, it’s like they are hugging!
When you unfold the bears, you will see one of two sentiments this card has. I used the new Retro Hugs stamp set. This set has a bunch of fun hug-themed sentiments in a cute bubble font.
On the inside of the card, I added a sentiment from the Inside Sentiments Hugs set. We’ve had lots of requests for sentiment for inside cards, and this set is one of 3 sets this month with inside sentiments!
The Intertwined Bear Dies can also be used like any other die cut and that’s exactly what I did with the next card. For this card, I used the smaller bear to create a sweet “hello” card. The Intertwined Bear Dies set comes with a cute little flower but I also borrowed some flower dies from the Layered Flowers set to give this little bear gal a flower crown. To finish off the card, I added a frame (Pinking Rectangle Frames), sentiment (Classic Sentiments), and cute polka dot paper (Half-Half Dots Unicorn Pad).
This next card also feature hugs but has a totally different vibe! This card uses the new Retro Hugs die set. This unique set features a die with a hugging figure and two “hugs” word dies in that same retro bubble font that you saw in the Retro Hugs stamp set. These dies remind me of those cool retro t-shirts from my childhood in the 70’s and 80’s. I put two huggers die cuts together to create a fun shaker card and then added the word die on top. For the background, I used some rainbow stripe paper to continue that fun retro look. This card just makes me smile!
The rainbow stripes continue with this, the last card of the day. This card uses the new Inside XOs Pop-up die but for the front of the card. This die is intended to add a pop-up effect on the inside fold of a card, but it’s perfect for adding a 3D effect on the front of a card! To create this effect, I die cut this die 7 times. With each die cut I folded it up and added a different strip of colored cardstock inside the die cut.
Then I glued them on top of eachother and glued them to a card panel. The card panel was slightly longer than the die cuts, so that I could wrap it around the top and bottom of the die cuts (you can see this in the pic below). Then I glued it to a base card. This one is not mailable, but the 3D effect is sooooo much fun!
There’s lots more to see today, so keep on hopping! Next on the hop is the wonderful Allison Frazier!
